From a life-changing moment overseas to helping people rebuild confidence and independence here at home, Occupational Therapist Meg brings compassion, curiosity and a genuine love of helping others to her role at Strive.
After witnessing the incredible impact an Occupational Therapy team had on a close friend recovering from a serious spinal injury, Meg was inspired to pursue a career where she could make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. Today, she channels that same passion into occupational rehabilitation, supporting clients from all walks of life while embracing the variety, challenge and connection that comes with every day on the job.
Based in our Gold Coast office, Meg is known for her warm nature, enthusiasm for learning and appreciation for the supportive culture that makes Strive feel like family. Whether she’s visiting workplaces, meeting with clients across diverse industries or adding another plant to the Gold Coast office’s indoor garden, Meg brings positivity and dedication to everything she does.
We caught up with Meg to learn more about her journey into Occupational Therapy, what she loves most about working in rehabilitation, and how she spends her time when she’s not at work with her two adorable golden retrievers, Honey and Cheddar. 🐾☕🌊

What inspired you to become an Occupational Therapist, and what do you enjoy most about working in occupational rehabilitation?
My introduction to occupational therapy began under difficult circumstances. While travelling through Europe with friends in my early twenties, one of my closest friends fell and broke his back. During his recovery, I saw firsthand how extensively an Occupational Therapy team supported him, from modifying his home and providing equipment to help him live as independently as possible and access the community, to then teaching him how to drive. I have always been someone who enjoys helping others, and this experience inspired me to pursue a career in Occupational Therapy. After spending much of my younger years travelling and experiencing life, it is rewarding to settle into a role I genuinely enjoy. Through conversations with clients, employers and referrers, I have learned the value of a supportive workplace and truly believe I have found that at Strive.
No two days are the same in this role. What does a typical day look like for you at Strive?
I love the variety Occupational Rehabilitation offers, and working at Strive has taken that to another level. In a single day, I might visit a corporate office, a worksite, a hospital and even a prison. It has been rewarding to meet people from all walks of life and learn about their different occupations. This variety has strengthened my skills in time management, adaptability, report writing, flexibility, communication and effective case management.
What is your favourite thing about working with the Gold Coast team and the broader Strive family?
Everyone has been incredibly welcoming and is always happy to answer my questions and share their knowledge and experience. It feels like more than a team, it’s a supportive family that encourages me to be the best clinician and person I can be. Although I may be biased, the Gold Coast is definitely my favourite office! I love our little team and our growing indoor garden.

When you’re not helping clients achieve their goals, how do you like to spend your time outside of work?
Outside of work, I you will find me spending time with my husband and our two beautiful golden retrievers, Honey and Cheddar. You will often find us at the beach with a coffee, listening to live music, trying new restaurants or cooking at home with friends. We love hosting barbecues and having our village around us.

If you could give one piece of advice to someone recovering from an injury or health condition and returning to work, what would it be?
Celebrate the small wins. It is easy to become so focused on the end goal that you overlook how far you have already come. Remember, every day is a fresh start.
