Mental Health First Aid Training – Empowering adults to support adults in mental health crises

At Strive Occupational Rehabilitation, we are proud to offer the Standard Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) course—an evidence-based training program developed by Mental Health First Aid Australia. This course equips adults with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to recognise, understand, and respond to mental health problems or crises in other adults.

Why Take This Course?

Mental health challenges are common, and early intervention can make a significant difference. This course empowers you to:

  • Intervene early by recognising the warning signs of mental health problems.
  • Offer support through open, compassionate conversations.
  • Respond in a crisis across a range of situations, including suicidal thoughts, panic attacks, and substance misuse.
  • Reduce stigma and promote understanding and empathy in your community or workplace.

What You’ll Learn

Participants will gain practical skills to:

  • Identify signs and symptoms of common mental health conditions.
  • How to approach someone they are concerned about and initiate a supportive conversation.
  • Provide initial help and guide the person to appropriate professional support.
  • Use a structured, evidence-based action plan to respond effectively in both crisis and non-crisis situations.

Course Delivery Options

The Standard MHFA course is available in multiple formats:

  • Face-to-Face: Traditional classroom setting.
  • Blended Online: A mix of self-paced eLearning and instructor-led sessions.
  • Blended Face-to-Face: eLearning followed by in-person workshops.

Participants can choose a workplace or community setting to tailor the course to their environment.

Please note there is a minimum requirement of six (6) participants to commence the course.

Accreditation and Recognition

  • Accredited: This course is recognised by Suicide Prevention Australia as a safe, high-quality, and effective suicide prevention program.
  • Evidence-Based: Developed using input from people with lived experience, caregivers, and mental health professionals.
